Enjoy your candles safely using the following tips:
Preventing memory rings:When lighting for the first time make sure the wax pool reaches the edge of the container or candle — the timing of this process can vary according to environment and the size of the candle. If the wax is not allowed to melt from edge to edge it will create a memory ring. Once a candle has this memory ring, it may continue to tunnel and burn that way for the life of the candle.
Wick and debris:Keeping the wicks of your candles trimmed helps them burn more cleanly and efficiently. All wicks should be trimmed to between 1cm and 1.5cm when re-lighting. Always extinguish the flame and let the candle cool to room temperature before trimming the wick. If there is excess sooting (black smoke), try trimming your wick a little shorter. Never leave any debris such as matches or bits of broken off wick (if any) in the wax pool as this may affect how your candle burns.
Always burn candles well away from drafts, other heat sources, and anything flammable.
Make sure burning candles are out of reach of children and pets.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
When only 2cm of wax remains, it's time to say goodbye to your candle. This will prevent possible heat damage to the candle container or the surface you are burning it on.
Candles should not be burned for more than four hours at a time, after which, they should be extinguished, allowed to cool for two hours, and have their wicks trimmed before re-lighting.
If burned properly to the edges, containers can get extremely hot, which happens even more so as the candle nears the end of its life and most of the wax has been consumed. Always extinguish and allow to cool before touching or moving the container.
Storage:The waxes and fragrance oils we use in our candles are sensitive to both temperature and light, so please be careful when storing candles for an extended period of time. Keep your candles in a cool dry place away from direct light or sunlight to prevent fading and discolouration.
ExpectationsAs all our candles are hand-made, variations in finish are a uniquely charming part of the completed product. One candle will only fragrance a few square meters around it. It will not fragrance a football field! If you can’t smell the candle, try adding another one to fill your space with fragrance.
