Hungry Ghost Day on Sunday the 18th is an annual celebration that takes place during the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
“The Hungry Ghost Festival is considered a time of reunion and remembrance, strengthening the bond between the living and the deceased, “The Hungry Ghost Festival involves various rituals aimed at appeasing the hungry ghosts and providing them with offerings. People make food offerings, burn incense and joss paper and set up temporary altars. These offerings are meant to provide nourishment and fulfil the needs of the wandering spirits,”
To honour those who have passed over, create a small altar in your garden. Leave food on the altar with fragrant garden incense and a tea light to pay homage to those who have passed over and to feed any lonely earth spirits. Play your singing bowl in your garden and around your house to connect with your house spirit who resides there and takes care of you and your family. These singing bowl sounds connect with high-energy beings.
